Q:
I have been taking Vitamin D (1000 I.U.) for about 4 months and have noticed a lessening of symptoms. Is it possible that Vitamin D could be the reason?
A:
Thanks for this question. Vitamin D is very much in the news these days. The full story is not yet out. Vitamin D is a very important co-factor in many metabolic pathways. Low Vitamin D levels favor inflammation; therefore raising your level can decrease inflammation as well as decrease the risk of cancer.
If vitamin D is the only thing to have changed, it is possible that your feeling of well being could be traced to increasing your intake. The optimal dose is 1,000 I.U. each day.
